"We consider Schiphol to be the finest airport in Europe. Very easy to get in and out of, and fly direct to major cities across the world." Bill Koehl, VP & GM, BMC Software, Inc.
Meeting business demand and keeping you in touch with what's most important - your customers
Ask any North American company why they're in the Netherlands and they'll tell you - proximity to customers and markets. The Netherlands' dense, high-quality infrastructure offers fast connections no matter how you're traveling - air, road or rail. Our strategic, central location gives you a significant edge in reaching more than 660 million consumers across the EU. Half of Europe's major markets lie within a 400-mile radius of the Netherlands. 95% of Europe's major markets can be reached within 24 hours by road from Amsterdam or Rotterdam.
Many transportation options
The Dutch transportation system is impressive. Europe's fourth largest airport -- Amsterdam's Schiphol International -- is a central hub, offering service to some 2,000 international destinations and handling 10.2% of Europe's passengers.
All major Dutch cities can be reached by car within an hour and a half from Schiphol via the country's dense and sophisticated network of highways and secondary roads. The network also offers access to international roads across Europe.
The railroad system in the Netherlands is ultramodern and efficient, too. Businesses enjoy fast connections to cities throughout the European Union on cars that are renowned for their cleanliness, speed, safety and on-time arrivals. In addition, high-speed passenger service now links Amsterdam and Rotterdam to France, Belgium, Germany, and via Eurostar connection to London.
The Netherlands is always upgrading its transportation systems and to that end has allocated substantial budget (about $49 billion, or 6% of the GDP) to keep traffic flowing smoothly during rush hour in traffic-heavy areas.
